Union Minister's son Arjit Shashwat granted bail in communal flare up

Bhagalpur: A local court today granted regular bail to union minister Ashwani Choubey's son Arjit Shashwat, facing accusation of fomenting communal trouble by taking out a religious procession without permission.
After hearing arguments of both sides, district and session judge (In charge) Kumud Ranjan Singh granted regular bail to Mr Shashwat and seven others, rejecting the bail petition of another accused Anup Lal Sah.
Earlier, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (In charge) AR Upadhyaya had remanded Mr Shashwat to judicial custody for 14 days on April 01.
Mr Shashwat against whom an arrest warrant was issued had surrendered before police in the state capital late night on March 31.
The judge Mr Singh had rejected Mr Shashwat's anticipatory bail petition on March 31.
Mr Shashwat was named along with eight others, in an FIR lodged in connection with a clash under Nathnagar police station area of the district on March 17.
Violence had erupted after people belonging to a particular community objected to loud music being played during the procession which was being allegedly led by Mr Shashwat.
