SC/ST Act: Rahul inciting hatred through lies, says Amit Shah

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah lambasted his Congress counterpart Rahul Gandhi on Thursday for 'lying' about the SC ST act and 'inciting hatred in the society'.

'See how Rahul Gandhi fictitiously revokes the SC/ST Act to incite hatred in society,' said Mr Shah in a tweet on which he posted an undated video in which Mr Gandhi, addressing people, says 'Atrocities on Dalits and tribals has been increasing. The SC/St Act has been 'radd kar diya gaya'(scrapped) and Prime Minister Naendra Modi is not uttering a word.'

The Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, or the SC/ST Act protects the marginalised communities against discrimination and atrocities.
