Police arrest man who shot dead paramour's husband

Delhi Police have arrested a 45-year old man, identified as Hasan Abbas, from Anand Vihar bus stand area, for killing a man with his double barrel gun.

Abbas reportedly had illicit relations with the wife of the deceased man and subsequently eliminated him after the latter objected to him meeting his wife.

The deceased, identified as Gulam Abbas, was shot by the accused on March 26 after Hasan barged into Gulam's house and argued with him. Later, Hasan shot Gulam in the leg with the gun and fled the spot. Gulam was admitted to GTB hospital where he died due to loss of blood.

The police had formed several teams and looked for the accused, but he managed to evade the law enforcement authorities.

"After technical surveillance, all possible hide outs of the accused in Mustafabad, Ghonda, Loni, Sahibabad and Ghaziabad were raided. Later, the accused was arrested from Anand Vihar bus stand while he was trying to escape Delhi," said a senior police official.

During interrogation, the accused told police that he had been involved in a relationship with the victim's wife for the past five months and when the deceased objected to this he grew furious.

The police have also recovered the weapon of offence, live cartridges and blood-stained clothes of the accused, which incriminate him for the murder.
