PM's letter to Swacch Bharat hero Prachi

Acknowledging the efforts of a good Samaritan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the attempt of a Pune-based girl for linking her kitchen gardening with Swachh Bharat Mission to keep the country clean.

As Mission Swachh Bharat is close to PM Modi's heart and he keeps an eye out for any endeavours in that direction. When Prachi B Deshpande, a resident of Pune, decided to fight on the war footing by no longer dumping waste from her home in dustbins but instead making compost fertiliser from the waste, it drew the attention of the Prime Minister.

Appreciating the efforts of Deshpande, PM wrote, "Your contribution towards making the society and environment clean and healthy will bring in positive transformation."

The PM has termed this endeavour as a good example of people's participation in the Swachch Bharat mission.

Prachi also began to collect such waste from her neighbourhood homes and temples and started organic farming on the roof of her house. When Prachi wrote a letter to the PM to inform him of her efforts, he wrote back praising her innovative endeavour.
