No fresh case of Coronavirus reported in Himachal

Shimla: After a sudden spurt in positive cases, including two mysterious ones in Hamirpur district –both having no travel history, Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday reported weakening of the Coronavirus spread.

"I am happy to share with you (citizens) that there are only 23 active cases in the hospitals and all are showing signs of significant improvements," Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said here. Most of the tests, approximately 116 for which reports, have been received till this evening, are negative.

Himachal had only 39 Coroavirus cases. One Tibetan, who returned from US, had died of Coronavirus.

There is no fresh case reported during past 24 hours and this is quite satisfying news for the state, said Chief Minister.

Nevertheless Thakur declared that there will be no relaxation in the lockdown conditions barring certain necessities.

What is, however, worrying for the state health agencies, is two Coronavirus cases at Hamirpur –a district with zero incidence till three days back. Both the persons, including a migrant woman, had no travel history.

Second person –a local resident also has not traveled anywhere during the lockdown period or before.

The contact tracing done by the police and health agencies has also not unfolded the mystery that how come they got infected and also none of their family members, so far, have been tested positive.

"It is being investigated in depth, at least to ensure that there is no spread of the disease," said Special secretary (Health) Dr Nipun Jindal.

Dr Jindal, who is also National Health Mission Director, revealed that atleast 83 of the COVID -19 cases in Himachal Pradesh have found to be asymptomatic, which has made the task bit difficult for the health officials, engaged in preventing spread of the Coronavirus.

Of total 39 cases, more than half of these having links to Tablighi Jamaat, 33 were asymptomatic, and rest six symptomatic.
