Rajya Sabha adjourned till 2 p.m

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 p.m., for a second time on Thursday.

As soon as the house met, Chairman Hamid Ansari gave a call for Question Hour but Congress members started protesting loudly over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks a day earlier over former Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and Indira Gandhi.

Earlier, when the Rajya Sabha met at 11, Congress members raised the issue and shouted slogans against Modi.

CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury gave a notice under Rule 267 over the Prime Minister's reference to late Communist leader Jyotirmoy Basu during his speech of Wednesday but the Chair rejected it.

Modi had quoted Basu's 1972 speech that backed demonetisation.
