Fresh spell of snowfall, rains in Himachal Pradesh

Cold wave conditions today aggravated in most parts of Himachal Pradesh as higher hills witnessed moderate snowfall, while mid and lower hills saw incessant rains, causing a sharp fall in day temperature.

High altitude tribal areas along with Rohtang, Kunzam and other passes recorded 20 to 30 cm of snowfall while Keylong and Kalpa received 13 cm and Kalpa five cm of snowfall.

Several areas in lower and mid hills were lashed by rains with Naina Devi receiving 30 mm of rains, followed by Manali and Saloni 18 and 16 mm
of rains respectively.

Kalpa and Dalhousie received 14 mm of rains, Kheri 10 mm, Chamba and Dharamshala nine mm, Gaggal and Dehra Gopipur six mm, Shimla,
Solan, Una and Palampur five mm of rains.

The sky remained overcast in Shimla and other places as icy winds lashed the region, further aggravating the cold wave conditions.

The maximum day temperature dropped sharply by two to five degrees Celsius.
