Sarpanch held as BJP MLA complains of being shot at

BJP MLA Ranvijay Singh on Thursday filed a police complaint that he was shot at allegedly by the henchmen of a sarpanch (village head), but the bullet missed him, following which one person was arrested, police said. Bakhtiyarpur SHO Ajay Kumar said the MLA of Bakhtiyarpur alleged that a group of six men came on motorbikes and shot at him when he was at his eatery on a national highway near Teka Bigaha village. However the bullet missed him.

On the basis of the complaint an FIR was registered and one Sadabrij Kumar and six unnamed persons were mentioned as accused in it, the SHO said.

Singh complained that Sadabrij had demanded extortion money from him and threatened him with dire consequences if he did not oblige.

Sadabrij, the sarpanch of Ghoshvari panchayat, under which Teka Bigaha village falls, has been arrested and an investigation has been initiated, the police officer said.
