Haryana Lokayukta for probe against 4 IAS officers

The Haryana Lokayukta has recommended an investigation into the role of four IAS officers in connection with alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme (MGNREGS) in Ambala between 2007 and 2010.

Lokayukta Justice Nawal Kishore Agarwal (retd) pronounced on Friday, his verdict in the matter, in which irregularities reportedly to a tune of Rs 25.13 crore took place.

"In view of my foregoing findings, discussions and observations, which are based on vigilance inquiry, it is recommended to the competent authority to initiate appropriate action including registration of criminal case against them," the Lokayukta said in its order.

He observed that the action should be at par with what has been initiated against the forest officials and therefore a senior competent police officer, having an impeccable reputation and integrity, be deputed to investigate the matter.
The Lokayukta has also said that an action taken report on the recommendations be sent to it within three months.
