Invite Telangana folks for Swarna Jayanti fest: Khattar

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday directed officials to invite people from Telangana in programmes being organised during the Swarna Jayanti year of the state.

Chairing the governing body meeting of Haryana Swarna Jayanti Celebrations Authority, Khattar said, "It may be recalled that Haryana and Telangana have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to exchange and promote cultural and traditional practices, to know the lifestyles, food habits, and others of both the states."

Khattar, who was reviewing the events to be organised up to the month of October 2017, said that Telangana had invited a contingent of Haryana Police and cultural artistes from the state on the occasion of its foundation day on June 2 after the state was selected as theme state in Surajkund mela.

With a view to promote sports in a big way in Haryana, 'Khel Mahakumbh' would be organised in the month of September and October 2017. During the Khel Mahakumbh, sports events in different disciplines would be organised at block, district and state level.

In another development, the Haryana government has given additional charge of OSD, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority and Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Gurugram, to Hardeep Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Gurugram and Chief Administrator, Mata Sheetla Devi Shrine Board, Gurugram, during the leave period of V Umashankar.
