Odisha government today directed the district authorities to expedite identification of chit fund victims through field verification as it set a target to complete the work by June.
Chief Secretary A P Padhi said the verification process has already started and going by the trend it would be completed in May-June this year and stressed on the genuine identification of the cheated depositors.
Two sets of the list of depositors are being verified at the field level - one is the list of the Rose Valley group as forwarded by the Hon'able court and other is the list of small depositors suggested by the Hon'able Commission of Enquiry," said Finance Secretary T K Pandey.
There are around 3.93 lakh persons in Rose valley list and 12,000 persons in Commission s list, he said adding that the entire verification process would be clean and transparent free from any ulterior motive, he said.
One toll-free telephone bearing the number-18003457 and email address dipfd.odisha@gmail.com have been activated through which any person who feels deprived during verification can communicate.
Padhi said during identification the authenticity of the documents and the legitimacy of the depositors should also be examined.

Padhi held a video conference with the collectors, additional district magistrates and superintendents of police of all the districts on the matter. Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan and Finance secretary T K Pandey also joined the chief secretary in the video conference.
Meanwhile, the state government has formed teams involving the assistant sub-inspector of police of the concerned area, revenue inspector/admin and panchayat extension officers of the concerned area for the purpose.
Balakrishnan advised the finance department to issue a circular containing frequently asked questions and answers along with a standard operating procedure for standardising the investigation procedure.
