Narayan Rane holds late night meeting in Shah's residence

New Delhi: Ahead of the impending Assembly polls, a major change can be seen in Maharashtra politics with former chief minister and former Congress stalwart Narayan Rane's new supposed innings with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Political buzz is in the round since he met BJP chief Amit Shah at his residence here on Wednesday night.
The meeting, which took place in the presence of present Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnaviz and State BJP chief Ashish Shelar, continued till late night, highly sources told Millennium Post.
Sources further said there is a widespread speculation of a political concession of Rane's Maharashtra Swabhiman Paksha and BJP as an alternative to Shiv Sena. It also claimed that BJP is keen to give a Rajya Sabha ticket to Narayan Rane. The senior politician had left Congress in bitter terms a few months ago. However, it remains to be seen whether Rane who is a major player in Maharashtra will be willing to be in the central brigade of the party.
Elections to 58 Rajya Sabha seats are due on March 23 and the last date for filing nominations is on March 12. There are six seats from Maharashtra and BJP is expected to win at least 3 of them.
Fadnavis has been an active stakeholder in all meetings that have taken place between Narayan Rane and Amit Shah. Even in last year also the BJP national president visited Rane's resident in Maharashtra, but it was a courtesy meeting, as was claimed by Shah himself.
