Local train derails at Asansol station, none injured

Kolkata: A local train that runs between Burdwan and Asansol derailed from the track before entering the car shed.
There were no passengers in the train when the incident happened and hence no injury was reported.
The incident took place in Asansol on Wednesday morning.
It was learnt that the train arrived at Asansol station in the morning. After the passengers got down from the train, it was being taken to the car shed. The first two compartments of the train suddenly derailed from the track.
It was learnt from the railway sources that the signal was flashing yellow as a result of which the train was headed towards the car shed. When the train was about the pass the signal post,
the signal suddenly turned red as a result of which the motor man applied sudden brake resulting in the derailment of the train.
The senior officials and engineers rushed to the spot immediately after the incident. Attempts were made to lift the two compartments on the track.
Asansol Railway divisions ordered a probe into the incident to ascertain the real cause of the incident.
The railway officials are also probing if there was any technical glitch in the train.
