Kashmiri student arrested for 'glorifying' suicide bomber of Pulwama tragedy

Shimla: A 21-year old Kashmiri youth, studying at a private university in Himachal Pradesh was arrested by the police for "glorifying" suicide bomber Adil Ahmed Dar –a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist behind killing of 42 CRPF personnel at Pulwama on February 14, the incident that has left the nation in shock and anguish over Pakistan's role in the tragedy.

Studying B.Tech in the II-year at Chitkara University, Tahseen Gul, say police at Baddi, had allegedly posted a picture of Dar and wrote a text -- "Allah Talah aap ki shahadat kabool kare (May Allah accept your martydom)" — as his status. That was enough to cause tension in the campus.

The students of the university, in hundreds reacted strongly to Gul's action and gheraoed the hotel raising slogans against him. They demanded his arrest.

Panicked over the development the university alerted the police as there were half a dozen other Kashmiri students also staying the same hostel.

In prompt action the university first rusticated the student and thereafter also informed the police about the issue. He was taken into custody on the basis of a complaint filed by the Dean Administration, Chitkara University, Col (Rtd) AK Chauhan informing that Gul had posted some anti-national remarks on social media "creating a tense situation" in the campus.

The police conducted a preliminary investigations registered an FIR under IPC section 153B (making assertions prejudicial to national integration).

The police said the students including Gul were also questioned to know the motive of posting such a comments and picture of the JeM terrorist.

The university sources said all other Kashmiri students have been shifted to other location and given proper protection. When approached by media, the students refused to comment on the development though they asserted that were living under fear. "We have come here for studies. What's our fault if such a thing has happened in Pulwama. It's,ofcourse, not good," a student remarked.

One of those martyred in the deadliest attack also included Tilak Raj , 30, jawan from Jawali area of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh. Thousands joined the family and state CM Jai Ram Thakur to pay last respect to the jawan at his village on Saturday.
