Jat stir: Haryana govt extends term of Jha Commission of Inquiry

The Haryana government has extended by six months the term of the two-member inquiry panel set up to probe the conspiracy behind the violence during the Jat quota stir last year, that left 30 people dead.

The terms of Justice S N Jha (retd) as the chairman of the commission, and retired IPS officer N C Padhi, as the member of the panel, have been extended for six months from April 8 to October 7 on the same terms and conditions, an official spokesperson said here on Friday.

The Jha Commission of Inquiry is looking into circumstances relating to violence leading to loss of lives and damage to properties and alleged violation of human rights from February 18 to 23 last year during the Jat quota stir in Rohtak, Jhajjar, Sonepat, Jind, Hisar, Kaithal and Bhiwani districts.

The commission is probing if there was any conspiracy to damage the social fabric and also inquiring into the complaints or allegations made before it by any individual or association in such form.
