HP: 2,186 persons sent to mandatory house quarantine

Shimla: In a major step to deal with Coronavirus spread in the state, Himachal Pradesh government has put 2,186 persons under mandatory house quarantine. Majority of these persons were the ones who had a travel history of COVID 19 affected countries and some were people who had come in contact with these persons.

The state government has compiled data relating to 1,895 persons who had returned from different countries after March 15 and the majority of them had not disclosed their travel history.

"We have data relating to all such persons and they have been kept under close surveillance and quarantined at their homes," confirmed Deputy Commissioner Kangra Rakesh Parajapati.

Kangra is only one district where two Coronavirus positive cases have been detected. Both had returned from Singapore and Dubai last week and wilfully concealed this fact from the medical authorities. 69-nine-year-old Tibetan Tenzin who had also returned from the US at Dharamshala had died and was also tested positive. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday evening reviewed the situation with Deputy Commissioners and SPs relating to lockdown and curfew imposed.
