Hooda slams BJP-JJP for failing farmers

CHANDIGARH: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said farmers of the state are facing shortage and black marketing of DAP fertiliser.

He demanded an increase in the supply of fertiliser and said this should be done at the earliest as sowing season has already started. “Sowing of wheat will start after mustard and the claims being made by the government have been exposed. Farmers have to wait in long queues for hours for fertiliser and a farmer from Fatehabad also died while waiting in the fertiliser line,” he pointed out.

“The BJP-JJP government is claiming that it has reserves of fertilisers, but they remain only on paper. Fertilisers are not reaching the farmers. It is clear that black marketing of fertiliser is taking place. DAP is not available in the cooperative societies of 22 districts of the state and private shopkeepers are forcefully selling bags of Sulphur to the farmers, along with DAP,” he added.

He said BJP-JJP play with the farmers like this in every season. This government has created a record of

distributing fertilisers in police stations.
