HM advisory ahead of Ambedkar Jayanti

New Delhi: In the wake of the recent nationwide violence during the anti-quota bandh call on April 2 and 10, the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a fresh advisory ahead of Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 asking states to take all precautionary measures to prevent any 'untoward incident'.
"The MHA has asked that patrolling should be intensified in all sensitive locations to ensure that no loss of life and property takes place and prohibitory orders may be issued wherever necessary," a ministry statement said. The ministry advised the states that all DMs and SPs be asked to take all required steps for ensuring that law and order situation remains firmly under control in the areas of their jurisdiction. The Centre had already advised all the states to beef up security in order to prevent such incidents on Monday.
A week after Dalit groups across the country held a nationwide protest against the alleged dilution of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act by the SC, which witnessed massive violence in different parts of the country leading to 11 people death, a Bharat Bandh against caste-based reservation in education and jobs had been called on Tuesday.
