Govt to declare March 10 Homebuyers' Day

In a move that may encourage homebuyers to take on errant builders, the government is mulling to declare March 10 as Homebuyers' Day as on this date the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Bill was passed in Rajya Sabha in 2016.

The assurance for the dedicated day for homebuyers has come from Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu, who on Monday gave his words to a delegation of Fight for RERA. The representatives of Fight for RERA, led by national convenor Abhay Upadhyay, called on Naidu under the leadership of Lok Sabha MP Malla Reddy.

Supporting the demand raised by Fight for RERA, the Lok Sabha MP from Telangana said that March 10 should be declared as homebuyers' day as it would represent their empowerment.

Commenting on the development, Upadhyay said, "The minister has given his assurance for the dedicated day and directed his officials for considering the proposal."
