Fake website under HRD Ministry scanner over job scam

New Delhi: A fake website operating by the name of Education Research and Development Organisation (ERDO) has come under the scanner of Human Resource Development Ministry (HRD) after it has found 'offering' jobs in government sector particularly in education.

The jobs on the 'offer' list of the ERDO website, which claims to be the 'department of education' organisation, include district education controller (DEC), block education controller (BEC) and basic tuition trainers (BTT). Reportedly, the website has claimed 'opening' for a total of 13,634 posts, including 13,222 vacancies for DEC posts, 383 vacancies for BEC posts and 29 vacancies in BTT.

Interestingly, the recruitment by ERDO is being projected as government recruitment drive on most of the career-related websites such as https://hindi.careerindia.com, https://www.wifistudy.com, etc.

According to the website of ERDO, it has three offices --- one in Delhi (head office), other in Mewat (Haryana) and the third one is in Palwal (Haryana). The website has also placed a comment from Prime Minister's Office grievance cell on new education policy 2015 to establish its credentials by creating an illusion among unemployed and gullible youths. The ERDO has its head office at Vipin Garden under Uttam Nagar police station in Delhi.

The website has opened the registration for jobs and charging a fee of Rs 600 from general category aspirants and Rs 250 from reserved category. As per the website, the registration process is open till October 18.

According to a senior official in HRD Ministry, such fake websites target unemployed youth mostly in the states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. "The HRD Ministry has taken a serious note of such dubious websites and would bring into the notice of the concerned department so that youth should not get cheated," the official said.
