Eyeing major role in national politics TRS to build party office in Capital

New Delhi: Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) supremo and Telangana Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), who is keen to play a crucial role in national politics, has decided to construct a TRS office in the national capital much before the Lok Sabha elections.

KCR is likely to lay the foundation stone for the party office in Vasanth Vihar area after the Telangana Assembly session is over in the third week of this month. A four-day Telangana Assembly session is slated to begin from January 17.

CM KCR is keen that the party office should be completed within three months. The TRS is officially entitled for 1000 square yards land in New Delhi for constructing party office, according to the government rules.

Accompanied by KCR's personal "Vasthu"(traditional Hindu concept of architecture) consultant Sudhakar Teja, TRS MPs had visited few places in the national capital to find a suitable place for the construction of party last week.

Though TRS MPs, led by Vinod Kumar, have not preferred a plot of 1000 square yards in ITO area and preferred Vasanth Vihar area. TRS party office in Delhi will have all ultra modern facilities with a

conference hall, rest rooms, video conference hall, separate office for TRS Chief, separate rooms for leaders of party in both the houses of Parliament, besides canteen with Telangana special food.

In fact, KCR wanted to construct TRS party office in Delhi in 2004 itself. A party's strength in Parliament decides the size of the land it is entitled to. If a party strength is 5 MPs, then would be entitled to get 500 square yards, if it is more than 15, then the party is entitled to get 1000 square yards.

Since TRS had less number of MPs in 2004, KCR wanted to wait till the strength of the party grew in Parliament. With more than 15 MPs in Parliament, TRS had now applied for 1000 square yards land in Delhi and the Centre has agreed to allot the land.

However, cost of the land is yet to be decided, according to sources. TRS party will pay the cost of land and take up the construction of party office. "Since KCR is keen to focus on national politics, the TRS party office in Delhi will become crucial venue for consultations and meetings with various political parties, " said TRS MP Vinod Kumar.

KCR has been pitching for a non-Congress, non-BJP federal front of regional parties to take on the two national parties.

During the late 80's, Andhra Pradesh Bhawan in Delhi used to be the venue for the non-Congress parties with TDP founder NT Rama Rao took lead to bring non-Congress parties together and organised non-Congress Chief Minister's conclaves.
