Court rejects bail plea of Choubey's son

New Delhi: With the Bhagalpur court on Saturday rejecting the anticipatory bail plea of Union Minister Ashwini Choubey's son Arijit Shashwat in Bhagalpur communal violence case, it seems the troubles are mounting for the son and father duo.
Notably, Shashwat has been booked under different sections of the IPC in connection with a clash in the Nathnagar police station area of Bhagalpur district on March 17.
Additional District and Session Judge Kumud Ranjan Singh, officiating as District Judge rejected the anticipatory bail petition of Shashwat after hearing arguments of his counsel and that of prosecution.
On March 26, Shashwat had moved an anticipatory bail application against the arrest warrant issued against him. Shashwat has been named, along with eight others, in an FIR lodged in connection with a clash in the Nathnagar police station area of Bhagalpur district on March 17.
Violence had erupted after people belonging to minority community objected to loud music being played during a procession taken out on the occasion of the new year as per the Hindu calendar. The procession was being led by Shashwat even without taking prior permission for the procession from the district administration.
Earlier, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav blamed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for shielding Shashwat, who has been accused of flaring up communal tension in Bhagalpur. "Why Kumar is not able to arrest the son of Ashwini Choubey – MoS Health Minister in Modi government," Tejashwi said.
