Class II student 'tortured' by teacher in Durgapur school

Kolkata: A student of Class II in a private school in Durgapur was allegedly tortured by a female teacher inside the school after he tore his notebook during a class.
The incident happened on Wednesday. The family members of the victim lodged a complaint with a district administrative official on Thursday, demanding a thorough inquiry into the incident.
The family members of the victim alleged that the
teacher had injured him with a pen. The victim has suffered injuries on his face and shoulder.
They also alleged that the teacher had threatened him of dire consequences if he told about the incident to his family members. The accused teacher had advised the boy to tell his parents that his elder brother, who is also a student from the same school, had injured him with a pen.
After returning home, when the boy removed his shirt, his mother found that he had some injury marks on his body. When he was asked about the incident, he tried to suppress it.
After being asked repeatedly, the victim finally narrated the whole incident to his parents. He also told his mother that he would be rebuked by the teacher if she came to know that he had made it public.
After receiving the complaint, school authorities have ordered a probe into the incident. They assured the victim's family members that stern action will be taken against the accused if she is found guilty during the probe initiated by the school.
The accused teacher, however, denied the allegations brought against her. She claimed that she did not poke the boy with the pen. It was his elder brother who had injured him at their home on the previous night, the teacher maintained.
