CBI court sentences 3 in Vyapam related case

New Delhi: A special CBI court in Bhopal has sentenced three candidates of the Police Constable Recruitment Test (2013) to five years in prison in connection with a Vyapam related case. Naeem Ali, Ajaharuddin, and Kasim Khan had been selected through the PCRT in 2013 by using illegal means.

The Central Bureau of Investigation had taken over the probe from Madhya Pradesh Police on orders from the Supreme Court and registered a case against the three. During MP Police investigation in the case, the middlemen who had helped the three pass the examination

had absconded. The state police filed a chargesheet in the case in April 2015.

However, the CBI had traced the absconding middleman, who confessed that he had helped the accused candidates by arranging impersonators for them who sat for the examination on behalf of the accused. The probe agency could not trace the impersonators. After completing its probe, the CBI filed a chargesheet in the case in May 2017 against all the accused candidates and the three middlemen who were revealed during the investigation.
