BJP's National Exec meet to chalk poll strategies

After an impressive performance in local bodies elections, now Bharatiya Janata Party is eyeing Odisha after Uttar Pradesh, as the state will go to the Assembly elections in 2019, in the same year of Lok Sabha elections.

The saffron party has chosen the capital city Bhubaneswar as the venue for its two-day National Executive meeting on April 15 and 16 after 20-years span.

Meanwhile, the party has been increasing its political footprint in the state with its focus on strengthening the party's root and by expanding its base in the coastal state. During the two-day session the party brass will discuss the predominant mandates in the ruling states and will also focus on the upcoming Assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

The conclave may also see appointment of various leaders to key party posts that have fallen vacant over the past few months. Sources said, after the major political shift, the party high command may announce major changes. Few Cabinet ministers also might get elevation; some might be shifted to state politics. Moreover, the State BJP functionaries on Sunday held a preparatory meeting in Bhubaneswar ahead of the meet next month.
