BJP demands fair, time-bound probe in Kerala's solar scam

New Delhi: The BJP made a scathing attack on Congress saying that "the whole DNA of Congress reeks of corruption."
The statement came after Justice G. Shivrajan Commission accused the former Kerala Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Oommen Chandy of corruption charges in the solar scam.
While addressing media persons here at the party head quarters, the Union Law Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad asserted that no Congress leaders, Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi have taken any steps to curb the corruption within the party.
"Taking measures against corruption has never been a part of the DNA of Congress," the minister said on Friday.
Speaking about the scam, the saffron party also claimed that many other Congress leaders were also found guilty and the commission was itself set up by one of the accused Oommen Chandy.
Leaving no chance to take political millage, ahead of significant Assembly Elections , BJP demanded a proper, fair and time-bound inquiry on the solar scam in Kerala.
"The UPA Government has corruption inscribed in all its elements. First, there was the 2G Spectrum scam, then the Common Wealth and Adarsh Scam also happened," Prasad added.
He also claimed that in the last three years the BJP-NDA government has given clean and transparent governance to India. Not only the solar scam in Kerala, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad also alleged another Rs. 600 crore scam in the state of Uttarakhand against Congress.
On October 11, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan directed an enquiry against former chief minister Oommen Chandy and others in connection with the case.
The main accused Sarith S Nair and her live-in partner Biju Radhakrishnan- were business partners of Team Solar Renewable Energy Solutions Private Limited, a Kochi based firm of fiddling of lakhs from several people on setting up solar panels.
