AIADMK's 'two leaves' symbol frozen

The Election Commission on Wednesday froze the Two Leaves symbol of the AIADMK party. The two factions of the party - V.K.Sasikala camp and O.Panneerselvam camp - will now have to contest on different symbols in the upcoming R.K. Nagar by-polls. The factions are permitted Both the factions have also been barred from using the AIADMK party name.

The factions have been given time till April 17 to submit documents to justify claim over party.

A battle has been raging between the O. Panneerselvam and Sasikala factions for the AIADMK party symbol. The issue of V.K. Sasikala's appointment as the interim general secretary of the party was not included in the hearing and the primary issue was the allotment of the symbol to either of the groups.
