Advani remarks reflection of demeaning politics of Modi-Shah duo, says Cong

New Delhi: Attacking the government, the Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala on Friday said that veteran BJP leader LK Advani's remarks that the party never regarded political foes as "anti-nationals" was a "stinging indictment of demeaning politics" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party chief Amit Shah.

"BJP patriarch and Modiji's political guru Advani in a stinging indictment to demeaning politics of Modi-Shah, founded on hurling abuses on political opponents, has exposed their duplicity and hypocrisy," Surjewala told reporters.

The Congress spokesperson further said that Advani had stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) conception of Indian nationalism never regarded those who disagree with it politically as "anti-national". "While politically, we disagree with many of Advani's views, his deceiving disciples, Modi-Shah, have unashamedly refused to even acknowledge the stinging indictment of their arrogant working style," said Surjewala. He said Modi and Shah were "habitual offenders of labelling, cataloguing, categorising every opponent as 'anti-national' and 'Pakistani agents', besides hurling abuse and vitriol every second which reflects their political bankruptcy.

In response to a question on selective leakage of information by ED, Surjewala said, "A single uncertified page leaked by ED of a purported chargesheet is a cheap election stunt to divert attention from an imminent defeat of the BJP." "ED has now become 'election dhakosla' of a party and government that is manufacturing a lie a day. All these hatched insinuations and lies were bundled out earlier through a set of reliable media, both print and electronic. Ultimately they failed in the international court where the government was a party and they were rejected as trash," he said.
