Narendra Modi woos youth, farmers

While addressing at the Cybermedia ICT Business Awards in the national capital, Modi said, ‘IT revolution has changed how the world thought about India. Our youth made the world change their perception about India. The farmers under 35 must be acquainted with latest technology.’

He said, ‘There was a time when the world never understood what we were about, what our true strengths were. But the perception has changed and all credits goes to our youth. I was asked in Taiwan in the mid-1990s- is India still the land of snake charmers. This was how the world thought. We have to give importance to innovation. The more we focus on innovation it is better.’

While referring to the development during the NDA regime, Modi said, ‘We have taken lots of initiatives during the NDA government under Atal ji. Acts were made, task forces made. Life is changing fast. Earlier cities were next to rivers, now they will be in areas with optical fibres.’

Stressing urgent need for more innovations in technology, the Gujarat Chief Minister said, ‘Role of technology is immense in defence sector. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) capability will define how much of superpower we are.’
