Narayangarh: Mamata gets rousing reception

The people, who had started pouring into the venue three hours ahead of the scheduled time at 4 pm, were not only from Narayangarh but from different parts of West Midnapore.  It may be recalled that Banerjee had committed to initiate her district tour in her second term from Narayangarh– if the people vote in favour of the Trinamool Congress to defeat Surya Kanta Mishra.

Each and every part of the ground was packed with people, much before the Chief Minister had arrived. When thousands of people were sitting anxiously for Banerjee to arrive, a large section of the people from the district were found gathered outside the camps, set up by different departments of the state government, to get information about various schemes that were introduced for the benefit of common people. There were camps of departments including agriculture, agriculture marketing, forest, labour and fisheries.

Monotosh Bhattacharya, a resident of Uttar Chirkonia village said that the initiative of the state government, to set up the camps of different departments during such programmes, is of immense help to the farmers. Most importantly, “dal bara” were distributed to the people. Earlier, Banerjee had also said that she would come back to Narayangarh to have dal bara if the nominee of her party wins.

Pratima Maity, a resident of Maninathpur, said: “I have prepared some dal bara in my home and I wanted to give it to the Chief Minister. Knowing it would be difficult for me to give it to her– I have distributed it among some people here as Banerjee says that everyone should come together for the benefit of each and every people in the state. This is the way how I have shared my joy of Banerjee’s win from Narayangarh.”

She added that she would come again whenever Banerjee will visit the district as she has transformed the place into a peaceful one.
