Narada chief summoned again by Kolkata Police

The Kolkata Police on Friday once again sent an e-mail to the CEO of Narada News Mathew Samuel summoning him to the headquarters of the city police at Lalbazar within the next seven days. It may be mentioned that this is the second time when he has been summoned. On June 24, the Kolkata Police had summoned Samuel by sending an email. The police had asked him to come to the Economic Offence Wing at Lalbazar and meet the concerned Assistant Commissioner of Police.

But no time by which he had to turn up was mentioned in the previous mail dated June 24, sources said adding that Samuel had also given a reply to the mail stating that he would have discussion about the matter with his lawyers.

As Samuel had urged the police on June 28 requesting the withdrawal of the summon that was served on him instead of turning up before the EOW, the police on Friday clearly mentioned the time by which he needed to turn up before the investigating officers.

The Kolkata Police had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the matter after the Chief Minister mentioned that truth should come out and those involved should be punished.

Moreover, the day after the Chief Minister’s statement, the wife of Mayor and state fire minister Sovan Chatterjee had lodged a complaint against Samuel with New Market police station bringing charges of defamation. Now the police are waiting for the reply of Samuel and they would take the next course of action only after receiving the reply.
