Narada case: Bhattacharya files petition against state

Senior advocate and CPI(M) leader Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya drew the attention of Calcutta high court Chief Justice Manjula Chellur’s towards the state government for setting up a committee to probe into the Narada Sting operation by Mathew Samuel.

The court hearing of the case will place on the 24th June. Bhattacharya said, the Court had earlier instructed Samuel to deposit the camera and other devices which had been used to conduct the sting operation to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Hyderabad and the Court has received the report too.

In such condition an inquiry like this by the state government amounts to contempt of court. On Monday, Chief Justice said that the High Court is the supreme authority in the state and is for everyone and she asked Abhratyosh Majumdar, state counsel, to explain the reason behind such an act.
