Naidu to lay foundation for new Andhra capital today
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will perform Bhoomi Puja for the new capital on <g data-gr-id="8">saturday</g>, a year after the bifurcation of <g data-gr-id="9">erstwhile</g> composite state into Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The TDP government has decided to locate the capital in the Vijayawada region on the banks of river Krishna and named it as 'Amaravati' after the historical town in Guntur district. Aiming to build a "futuristic city", it has roped in the Singapore government for preparing the master plan for the capital. The state government has pooled 33,000 acres for developing the capital as per its "land pooling" policy.
