Naidu inaugurates reverse vending machines

The Union Minister for Urban Development and Information and Broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday launched Reverse Vending Machine in New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) area on Thursday. The NDMC officials said that the Reverse Vending Machine is a first-of-its-kind in the country that has been installed by the Council in Palika Bazar, aiming at promoting the behavioral attitude, change of mindset and motivate public to throw plastic bottles/cans in the Reverse Vending Machine.

The machine, a waste recipient bin-cum-kiosk is the latest innovative technology which will act as a waste receptacle recycling bottles and cans. Anyone can drop a plastic bottle in it and get attractive coupons and prizes in return. The aim is to promote recycling of waste material and faster behavioural change. Besides this, the Union Minister also inaugurated two Smart Toilets having facilities of Mobile Charging, Water ATMs, Bank ATMs and four other Public Toilet Utilities by remote at different locations under the NDMC. The NDMC will set-up 101 Smart Public Toilets in the different areas of New Delhi.
