Nadia policemen confiscate boxes of fake medicines, accused at large

Nadia Police and a team of Sub-Divisional Officers (SDO) barged into a house of local resident and seized boxes of fake medicines.

The whole consignment was supposed to be delivered at a medicine stores near Kalyani JNM Hospital.

The key accused Amar Roy, a Kalyani resident along with his aides has gone at large. Police started an inquiry as well as raids at nearby vicinities.

SDO Swapan Kumar Kundu and SDPO Kaustavaditya Acharaya were acting on a tip-off, raided the house of Roy.

“He lives in the apartment adjacent to the hospital and spread his network there. He engaged some local 
unemployed youths in his trade,” said an investigating officer.

However, the police are probing the source of those fake medicines.“We have recovered 
some instruments from his house. Those fake medicines were stocked in his house and he sold those 
medicines in the shops there. The man was also involved in the tout-rackets,” the officer added.

“Those medicines looked like the original pieces from a reputed company. Nobody would be able 
to ascertain the difference. We have called up company men to identify their products. They were also shocked to see those medicines,” the officer further said.
