Mystery shrouds student’s death in Murshidabad

Mystery shrouds the death of a class VII student from Bodoi village in Murshidabad who was declared brought dead after being taken to Kandi Hospital Monday. 

Family members of the victim Shamim Mullick alleged that he died after being beaten up by a school teacher inside the school campus. School authorities on the contrary refused to admit the allegation. They said that Mullick died after he fell ill during school hours. 

Police, however, arrested the school principal and a teacher on the basis of a complaint lodged by the relatives of the victim. Local residents and family members of the victim on Tuesday staged demonstration near the school at Duckbanglow area protesting against the incident.  

Family members said the school authorities did not inform them about the incident which they have denied. 

Police have started a detailed investigation into the incident. They were interrogating the school the principal and another teacher after they were remanded in police custody on Tuesday.
