My daughter never named Sudip during interrogation, says Debjani’s Mukherjee’s mother

Brushing aside the allegations raised against Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay that he visited the office of Saradha Group, Debjani Mukherjee’s mother claimed that her daughter told her on Monday over phone from Dum Dum correctional home that she had never given any such statement to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Debjani told her mother that she had never taken Bandyopadhyay’s name during the CBI interrogation and had never seen him in the office. “Debjani said that she had never taken the name of the respectable MP and it is baseless if the CBI makes a claim that she told them that she had seen Bandyopadhyay visiting Saradha Group’s office,” Sarbari Mukherjee, Debjani’s mother, told mediapersons.

There had been some news reports in the media claiming that Debjani Mukherjee, a close aide of Saradha Group chief Sudipta Sen, had earlier revealed before CBI during interrogation that she had seen Bandyopadhyay visiting the headquarters of the Saradha Group at Midland Park.

The headquarters also housed offices of the dailies run by the group and Mukherjee was reported as saying that Bandyopadhyay used to come to meet Sen. Mukherjee was arrested along with Sen from Kashmir for her alleged involvement with the Saradha Group scam.

Sarbari said that after getting the media reports, Debjani had called her from a landline phone in Dum Dum Correctional Home and claimed that whatever was shown in the reports was completely false.
