Mutilated body of man found in South 24 Parganas

The locals of the Harigram village in South 24 Parganas spotted an unidentified body beside the road on Monday morning. The body was partly mutilated and was tied with a rope. The locals called the police, who took it for autopsy.

Police said, he was a middle aged man who might have been killed and thereafter, his body was kept beside the road. “The body was partly decomposed and his neck was tied with a rope, which means that the man was strangled to death,” said a police officer.

However, the local sources of the police informed them that the man was a resident of nearby Sarala village. He came to sell vegetable in the market of Harigram village. But somehow the man stayed in the village. “He did not return to Sarala village. We have received a piece of paper from his body. Some phone numbers were written there, which we found very strange,” the officer said.

Meanwhile, police are unable to trace the family members of the man. “It is difficult for us to trace the identity of the man. The family was also not identified,” said the officer adding, some villagers were called up to identify the man but they could not identify him.
