Music for the soul
Delhi is set to go on a spiritual ride as Punjabi Academy and Department of Arts, Culture and Languages will organise a three-day event Gurbani Sangeet Samagam 2014 starting 18 April.
The Kirtan darbar will feature the renditions of a number of spiritual singers from Delhi, Patiala and Jalandhar. The first day of the darbar will be featuring Bibi Ashupreet Kaur from Jalandhar, Ragi Harbans Singh Ghulla Ji Bhaini Sahib and L K Pandit from Delhi.
On the second day, Bibi Ishwanik Kaur from Delhi, Bhai Avtar Singh Garna Sahib And Gurunam Singh from Patiala will be delivering a spiritual environment in the form of Kirtan.
The last day of the darbar will have performances from Ragi Baljit Singh from Delhi, Barkat Sindhu Monga and Bhai Gurmeet Singh Shant from Jalandhar.
The Delhi government established the Punjabi Academy to propagate and promote Punjabi language, literature and culture as an integral part of composite culture of the city.
Ever since its inception, the academy has been playing a role in the proliferation of Punjabi literary and cultural activities in the spheres of music, folk dances, seminars, symposia, short story, poetry, novel, etc.
