The Delhi police Crime branch arrested a person who was a proclaimed offender and was on the run after he murdered an elderly lady in Vikaspuri area of Delhi in 2004. His other associates except one were arrested but Raju managed to give police a slip.
A secret information that was received by a Head Constable posted in South-west Range Crime Branch that a fugitive criminal Raju, alias Painter, who was a Proclaimed offender in a sensational robbery-cum-murder case of a senior citizen lady, was presently residing in Sector-16-A, Dwarka and would come near Metro Bridge, Sector-16-A, Dwarka. The information was developed and a team under the supervision of DCP Crime Bhishm Singh arrested the accused.
In 2003, Raju had done painting work at the flat of deceased Indira and again in 2004, he was hired by the deceased for painting at her flat. On this, he assigned Arun (his wife’s brother), Dharmender and Vikas to complete the work. During this period, they all planned to rob valuables from Indira as she was living alone in the flat.
According to their plan, in the intervening night of January 25 & 26, 2004, the accused persons tied the old lady’s hands and legs and strangulated her. Thereafter, they robbed the cash and jewellery from her house and also stole the jewellery on her body. “After the incident, two accused Dharmender and Arun were arrested including the jeweller Vijay whereas the accused Raju Painter absconded and hid himself in different areas of Darwasa (Nepal), Punjab and Bihar for more than 12 years” said Joint CP Crime Ravinder Yadav.
