‘Murdered’ student returns home after 2 weeks

Much to the astonishment of everyone, a Class X student returned home on Thursday morning, 14 days after his parents lodged a murder complaint alleging that he was killed by one of his friends. The incident took place at Nalpur in Howrah.

Police said that the student went missing on August 28. His family members and neighbours had failed to trace him despite searching for him everywhere. Later, they questioned one of his friends, who went to call him from his house to go out to play that evening.

He said that he had a quarrel with the class X student. They had a fight and he had beaten up the class X student miserably till he fell unconscious. Finally, he threw his body into river Hooghly.

Following the statement given by the boy, local people had informed the police and narrated the entire story. The police initiated a search for the body of the class X student in river Hooghly. The Kolkata Police’s River Traffic Police and Disaster Management Group’s officer had continued a search for three days but couldn’t find the body.

His parents later lodged a complaint with the police and subsequently the friend was arrested. Being minor he was sent to a home in Bagnan.

Everyone was shocked on Friday morning when they found the class X boy returning home with his aunty. His aunty, who was returning after a medical check-up, saw him loitering aimlessly on Nalpur station at Uluberia in Howrah. She took her home at Sakrail Paschimpara in Howrah.

But the boy failed to say anything concrete that where he was for the past 14 days. The police were informed. Policemen from the local police station went to his home, but couldn’t question him much as he was in a traumatised state.

He, however, told his parents that he had been hiding at a place in Kolkata.

On Friday morning he somehow managed to come to Howrah Station from where he took train to reach Nalpur station. A senior police officer said that both the boys will be questioned.
