MP: Cong mourns death of people in bank queues

The demonetisation issue echoed in Madhya Pradesh Assembly on opening day of the Winter session on Monday when a leader of opposition Congress condoled the deaths of people in queues at banks and ATMs, after Speaker made obituary references to leaders who passed away recently.

As the five-day session began today, Speaker Sitasharan Sharma and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan mourned the death of Leader of Opposition Satyadev Katare, three former Governors and others as listed in the business of the House.

However, acting Leader of Opposition in the House Bala Bachchan also condoled the deaths of people who lost their lives in the queues at the banks.

"I pay my respect to the people who lost their lives standing in the long queues of the banks and the banks staffers following demonetisation," Bachchan said. He also paid homage to Bhopal jail head constable Ramashanker Yadav, who was allegedly killed by SIMI activists before they escaped from the prison on the intervening night of October 30-31.
