Motorist dies while racing on Ultadanga flyover

Police said that the victim, Mrityunjoy Chakraborty was riding a motorcycle with one Chinmay Dutta in the pillion. He was racing with another motorcyclist on the Ultadanga flyover when he lost control of his bike while taking a sharp bend on the flyover.

According to police, the two bikers were coming from the Lake Town side, situated on the EM Bypass. There were two young men riding on the other bike. The accident took place when Chakraborty was trying to overtake the other bike.

Eyewitnesses told police that because Chakraborty was riding at a high speed, he could not control the bike’s movement and rammed into a divider. Both Chakraborty and Dutta received injuries on their head as they were not wearing helmets.

The local people rushed the riders to a private hospital on EM Bypass where Chakraborty was pronounced brought dead by the doctors. 

Dutta, on the other hand, is currently undergoing treatment with serious injuries on various parts of his body. He has been kept in the ICCU of the hospital. Police have seized both the bikes and are interrogating the other two bikers in this connection.
