Moti Bagh rape case: Car owner arrested, later released on bail

The Delhi Police have arrested the CISF constable for the alleged misuse of the Ministry of Home Affairs sticker on his private car. The SX4 car was used by his driver Avnish to rape a girl in Moti Bagh area of South Delhi on Wednesday night.

In the continuing investigation of the South Campus rape case registered on December 15, a complaint was received from an authorised officer of Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India regarding misuse of parking label which was entrusted to Constable Omkar Singh of CISF who happens to be the father of the registered owner of the car in which the offence had been committed.

“Based upon the complaint, a case under Sections 406/34 IPC was registered at South Campus. During the investigation of this case, accused Omkar Singh was arrested on Saturday morning and produced before the concerned Court in Patiala House,” said Additional DCP- South, Manishi Chandra.

The accused has been granted bail on a bond of Rs 25,000 by the court.

Omkar Singh is a constable in Central Industrial Security Force ( CISF ) and is posted in the CISF DG office. Sources say that Omkar Singh procured the MHA sticker with his contacts as he was in the DG office. However, it was his personal car and the sticker was stuck on the windsheild. It is also learnt that Omkar Singh used his personal car as a taxi. The accused in the rape case Avnish was employed some time back for the purpose.

Sources also said that Omkar Singh used his car with the private number as taxi and the Ministry of Home Affairs sticker was used to befool people and also to avoid toll taxes.
