Mother, son murdered under ‘mysterious’ circumstances

On Friday morning, bodies of mother-son were found by one of the neighbours, identified as Manorama Upadhyay when she noticed that their house’s door was open. Whe she entered the house she found their bodies lying on the bed in a pool of blood. She immediately made a call to the police control room and a team reached the crime scene. ‘There were stab wounds on their bodies which establishes the fact that they were attacked with a blunt object. Both the bodies have been sent for the post-mortem examination and the reports are awaited’, informed a police officer.

The victims have been identified as Usha Mishra (62) and Jitender (40). Usha, a widow, was living with her son Jitender.

During investigation it was learnt that Jitender’s wife died in 2012 and his in-laws’ blamed him for killing her. In March 2012, his wife Pratibha had also filed a case against him accusing him of torturing her.

Jitender’s family members have blamed his wife’s relatives for the murder. ‘Preliminarily
investigation suggests that someone known to the deceased family is behind the murder as there were no traces of a forced entry into the house,’ the investigating officer said.

He further added that the house seemed ransacked but there is a possibility that the accused might have robbed few things to make to make it look like a robbery.

Sources in police department have also informed that a wallet containing an identity card was also found from the crime scene. ‘However, it is yet to be ascertained whether the wallet belongs to the killer’, the source added.

‘We are investigating the case from all possible angles including a property dispute. Usha owns three houses in Rohini, so that can also be the reason behind the murder,’ the officer said. Meanwhile, a CCTV footage has also been recovered from the camera installed outside the house. A case of murder has been registered at Vijay Vihar police station against the unknown accused.
