Mother of 5 raped on pretext of job in Bhalswa Dairy

A 25-year-old woman was allegedly ‘raped’ on the pretext of a job in North-West Delhi’s Bhalswa Dairy area.

The police said the incident took place on October 11 in the Mukundpur area when the woman, along with her five children, came here to earn a living, while her husband stayed back in Ludhiana. The victim lived with an acquaintance (a woman), they added.

The police said Noor, a friend of the victim’s acquaintance, often visited their house. One day, Noor allegedly asked the victim to meet him near Mukundpur Pul, from where he would pick her up and take her for a job interview. When she reached there, Noor hired an autorickshaw and took her to an isolated place. He allegedly offered a sedative-laced drink to her and raped her, after she lost her consciousness.

When the woman gained consciousness, she approached the police, alleging ‘rape’. A case under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC was registered against the accused at the Bhalswa Dairy police station, after her medical tests confirmed the assault. However, when the police produced the woman before a magistrate to record a statement, she alleged ‘gang-rape’ by three men.

Meanwhile, the police are questioning the woman in the presence of a counsellor.
