Mother-daughter attempt suicide from Howrah Bridge

Local people said that they had jumped into the river Hooghly but were rescued. Police said that the 

mother-daughter duo was standing in front of a pillar on the bridge but suddenly the bystanders saw them jump into the water. 

But the people, who were bathing in the ghats alongside the river rescued them. They took the duo to the shore and necessary treatment was instantly given.Later, they were taken to the police station. Police said that the financial problem was the only reason for them to attempt suicide.

The duo are residents of Howrah’s Udaynarayanpur block. They were hospitalised where they underwent necessary treatments.
