Mother Dairy launches eco-friendly milk vans

Mother Dairy, the largest milk supplier in NCR, today announced that it would sell loose milk in different parts of Delhi and NCR through eco-friendly vans Kamdhenu.
The announcement, which comes on the World Environment Day, will help the dairy cooperative save 2,100 tonnes of plastic every year.
Mother Dairy supplies 30 lakh litres of milk in NCR everyday, of which one-third is loose and rest is in poly bags.
‘On the occasion of World Environment Day, we have launched environment friendly vans named as Kamdhenu,’ Mother Dairy said in a statement.
‘These are modern, eco-friendly vans which will carry homogenised toned milk in loose form and will be placed at different locations in Delhi-NCR covering even the remotest corners,’ it added.
The vans, which will run on CNG, will bring safe, hygienic milk to the doorstep, it said. ‘We sell about 11 lakh litres of token milk in Delhi alone and thus ensure more than 5.5 tonnes less consumption of plastic in Delhi everyday,’ Mother Dairy Fruit & Vegetable Business Head, Milk Division, Amitava Mukherjee said.
