‘Monitoring Committee’ to check pollution in city

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) will soon form a ‘Monitoring Committee’ in order to check the pollution level in Kolkata. On Monday, the division Bench of NGT revealed that the committee they have decided to form the committee to check the rising pollution in Kolkata and Howrah. 

In response to the case filed by environment activist Subhas Dutta against the rising pollution level in city, the NGT had ordered the National Pollution Control Board to submit a report on it. In the report it was found that the pollution level in Kolkata and Howrah was considerably high.

Dutta informed that based on this report, the NGT had decided to form a committee to check the pollution level. Around two years ago, WHO hinted that the city’s pollution level was rising.
