Modi is 'vikaspurush' only for industrialists, says Arvind Kejriwal

'Modi is a vikaspurush, but only for Adanis and Ambanis,' Kejriwal, who is in Gujarat to 'inspect' development claims made by Modi, said after meeting farmers in Mundra taluka where Adani Port and special economic zone (SEZ) is located.

'Big industries in a nexus with government started acquiring lands, he alleged, while adding that 'it seems that the entire land of Gujarat is on sale.'

'Industries have earned so much black money that they will flee to Switzerland any day,' he further alleged.

'Through media he (Modi) conspires a propaganda of development. But have you heard voices of content here? People are only talking about their agony,' Kejriwal said.

The former Delhi chief minister also met Sikh farmers in Abdasa earlier and told them, 'Gujarat government does not want to give Sikh farmers their land.'

'Gujarat government froze their land in 2010, they approached court and have hired big lawyers so that Sikh farmers remained deprived of their land,' he said.

Prithvi Singh, a farmers' representative, said, 'We put our issue before Kejriwal regarding anti-farmers' policy of the state. He assured us that he will raise our issue, though we know model code of conduct has come into effect, anyone cannot do anything.'

'We have given many representations to the state government but it didn't help us, instead Modi is fighting till the Supreme Court,' Singh said.

'In this political scenario, we have some hope from AAP and Kejriwal,' he added.

Kejriwal also met fishermen representatives and tried to visit a hospital in Bhuj, but could not reach there due to protests by a mob shouting pro-Modi slogans.

Kutch Police lodge complaint in Kejriwal's car attack incident

Kutch Police on Wednesday lodged a case of rioting against a mob of 40 to 50 men, who allegedly stopped the convoy of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday evening and attacked his car.

The incident took place at Kharohi village in Bhachau taluka of Kutch on Wednesday. Later, local crime branch PSI J P Solanki lodged an official complaint of rioting and damaging private property against the mob.

In his complaint at Bhachau police station on Thursday, Solanki alleged that 40 to 50 unidentified men gathered at Kharohi cross roads to accomplish their motive and shouted slogans.

Later, one of them attacked the car and broke the windshield using some object. However, the complaint does not mention any names, neither of BJP nor of Kejriwal.

The AAP leader and his team members are on a 'fact finding tour' of development in Gujarat from Wednesday. During his journey from Ahmedabad to Kutch on Wednesday, Kejriwal faced protests at regular intervals, allegedly from BJP workers and other groups.

When his convoy reached Kharohi village, some alleged BJP workers were protesting with black flags, AAP Gujarat convenor Sukhdev Patel said.

'With the sticks of black flags they attacked the car of Kejriwal when he had gone there to look at the problem caused to the people due to breach in Narmada canal in the area,' Patel had said on Wednesday.

In the wake of attack on Kejriwal's car in Bhachau on Wednesday, Kutch police have beefed up his security.

'I have asked all the police stations in my jurisdiction to stay alert and give him protection. For the security of his convoy, we have deployed two police vehicles,' superintendent of police (SP) Kutch-East Dipak Meghani said.

However, Kejriwal's 'secretive' attitude is making police job difficult, Meghani said.

'We want to give him better protection, but, he never reveals where he is heading. Thus, local police cannot be informed well in advance. Since the model code of conduct is implemented, we cannot provide a front running escort car. But, Kejriwal is taking advantage of that situation,' the SP added.
